SAA – Station Extension at Majnoon Oilfield

We executed the extension of the SAA station to enhance power distribution and utility capabilities within the Majnoon Oil Field. The project included the installation of new 11 kV switchgear, 11 kV/400 V transformers, a DC110V control system, and a complete water-pumping system. Scope of work also involved high-voltage cabling, control and instrument cabling, and the construction of a dedicated pump room to support utility operations.

This extension significantly improved the operational capacity, reliability, and efficiency of the field facilities, demonstrating ECD’s expertise in electrical installations, MV systems, and integrated power solutions.

The expansion enhanced electrical reliability, increased load-handling capacity, and improved the overall performance of the facility’s distribution network. This project demonstrates ECD’s strong capabilities in medium-voltage systems, integrated electrical works, and advanced commissioning services.

Benefits of Project

The station extension delivered major improvements to the operational performance of the facility. The addition of new MV switchgear, transformers, and control systems strengthened the power network and ensured stable, uninterrupted operation.

  • Increased power reliability
  • Higher load-handling capacity
  • Low Improved electrical network performance
  • Enhanced system safety and protection
  • Energy Reduced operational interruptions
  • Upgraded control & communication systems
  • Increases Property Value
  • Government Incentives
  • Long-term operational efficiency

The Challenge Of Project

The project required executing electrical and utility upgrades inside an active oil-field environment, demanding strict HSE compliance and precise coordination. Working around existing energized equipment, integrating new 11 kV systems, and constructing a pump room within limited space posed critical logistical challenges. Despite these conditions, all installations, testing, and commissioning activities were completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
